College Hosts First-of-Its-Kind Conference for Higher-Education Transfer Counselors

(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)鈥擳he College, in conjunction with many other higher education institutions in the region, will host a first-ever conference for higher education counselors who assist students in transferring from one college to another. The Transfer Admissions and Advising Committee conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, at 大发六合彩鈥檚 Marple Campus, 901 South Media Line Road.
Conference topics and breakout sessions will be held for counselors interested in learning more about various aspects of student transfer such as articulation agreements between colleges, student advising, utilizing technological resources, international student advising, advising veterans, and much more.
鈥淭he purpose of the conference is to gather interested student-centered individuals and organizations to disseminate relevant information and better serve transfer students,鈥 said Nora Manz, the lead organizer of the conference and associate director of Transfer and Articulation at 大发六合彩. Besides Delaware County, the conference also consists of Rosemont College and Arcadia, Immaculata, La Salle, Neumann, Penn State Brandywine, Saint Joseph鈥檚, Temple, West Chester and Widener universities.
While similar conferences have been held in other states, Manz said she believes this will be the first conference of its kind in Pennsylvania. Frances Cubberley, vice president for Enrollment Management at 大发六合彩, will be the keynote speaker. Cubberley is on the National Association for College Admission Counseling Board of Directors and is a past president of the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling.
Other conference speakers will include: Manz; Colonel John C. Church Jr., USMC, assistant professor of English at Immaculata University; Kim Allen-Stuck and Dan McDevitt, director and associate director, respectively, of Student Success and First Year Experience at Saint Joseph鈥檚 University; Janet Distel, director for Academic and Student Affairs, and Dan Gilbert, Madeleine DeBot, and Carly Salvadore, academic advisors in Temple University鈥檚 College of Education; Jared Brown, director of West Chester University鈥檚 New Student Programs; Julie Kane, coordinator for PA Statewide Transfer and Articulation Center; and Kathleen Howley, senior associate vice chancellor for the PA State System of Higher Education.
