Theoretical Approach, Experience, and Temperament
It is my philosophy to first create a warm and comfortable environment for students. Establishing a strong working relationship, one built on trust and respect is imperative for providing an effective counseling experience. I am a solution focused counselor who works with a student's current situation and helps him or her generate creative options for dealing with difficulties. In addition, I often use cognitive-behavioral approaches with students, helping them to change their thoughts and their behaviors to establish a more mindful interpretation of self. Working with students on coping strategies is an important part of my work. With the rights skills, any problem can be overcome. As a counselor, I provide the following services: - Personal Counseling - Academic Advisement - Transfer Advising - Career Counseling I am also a LGBTQ Ally.
