Art - Studio, Associate in Fine Arts (A.F.A.)
Program Overview听听
The Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) in Art - Studio concentrates on painting and drawing and is designed to prepare students for transfer into a four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program.听During the first year of study, Art - Studio majors complete the foundation program focusing on the fundamentals, methods/materials, drawing, painting, 2D, 3D, color theory, and art history. The second year combines advanced coursework with a final capstone course (Portfolio Preparation) in which graduating students develop a body of artwork for the Annual Graduation Exhibition to be viewed in the Art Gallery at 大发六合彩.
Why Study Art - Studio?听
Students interested in creating visual art through painting, drawing, or sculpture can further explore their interests at the college level.听The Art - Studio field offers a range of career paths such as art education, digital arts, art therapy, fashion design, arts administration, gallery or museum studies, and art history. Although most of our Art - Studio graduates continue studies in painting and drawing, they are prepared to transfer into a range of visual and digital art programs offered at four-year universities. Hands-on skills such as observational drawing/painting gain a deeper knowledge in structure, form, volume, and color which can be applied to other studio disciplines and digital applications including concept art, animation, illustration, 2D and 3D modeling. After earning a Bachelor in Fine Arts at a four-year school, many of our students have continued onto graduate school earning a Master in Fine Arts (MFA).听听听听
The Art - Studio program also serves the needs of non-traditional students returning to higher education to earn studio credits toward a teaching certificate at a four-year institution such as听Kutztown University鈥檚 Post-Baccalaureate Certification in Art Education.听Email Professor Jaime Treadwell to learn more.
What Happens After DCCC?听听
Art - Studio majors typically transfer onto local four-year institutions including Tyler School of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Drexel University, Moore College of Art, UArts, PCAD, Kutztown University, West Chester University, and many more.听By completing their first two years at 大发六合彩 students save money, cultivate skills, and craft a portfolio required for transfer into a four-year school of their choice. Students further benefit by studying with experienced and accomplished faculty in their field and attending a program in the middle of major art centers throughout the Northeast corridor.听
