Zifeng Zang, Studio Art
Artist Statement
When I was a graphic designer, I spent a lot of time creating imaginary figures and characters in the commercial art field. I always had a love and appreciation of the human form. At some point, I realized I became more interested in making artwork without using computer technology so I started to change my direction towards fine art. My paintings focus on a way to create abstract human forms that blend into a cultural environment or landscape. I attempt to express the celebration of humans by using exaggerated facial features and twisted body gestures rather than the accuracy of specific representation.
In my recent work, I try to explore a palette that shows a personal style and incorporates more abstract elements than my previous work, as well as keeping the human form a focus of the painting.
