DCCC’s No-Cost Teacher Education Program for High School Juniors Hosts Information Session January 25
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)— ´ó·¢ÁùºÏ²Ê’s two-year Teacher Education Program, open to students who will be high school juniors in Fall 2024, will host both virtual and in-person information sessions for Delaware County high school students this month. A new cohort will begin in August 2024.Â
High school juniors interested in teaching careers can now attend the College and earn up to 38 credits toward a degree in education—at no cost to them or their families. The Teacher Education Program is a dual enrollment program, which provides eligible high school students the opportunity to earn college credits while they are still in high school.Â
A partnership between ´ó·¢ÁùºÏ²Êand Delaware County Council, the Teacher Education Program is intended to address the critical shortage of teachers in Delaware County. Delaware County students enrolled in the program will attend classes at DCCC’s Marple Campus in Media. Those who complete all two years will earn 38 college credits from the College. These credits can be transferred into an associate degree program at the College or used to transfer into a four-year institution such as West Chester University.Â
At no cost to students, their families, or the school districts, the program hopes to shorten the time to prepare students to be qualified teaching professionals. Seats will be awarded on a first-qualified, first-admitted basis.Â
