Upper Darby Township Honors 大发六合彩President as Part of Hispanic Heritage Month
Delaware and Chester Counties, PA - October 18, 2024)鈥擮n Oct. 16 at the Upper Darby Municipal Building, 大发六合彩President Dr. Marta Yera Cronin was honored by Upper Darby鈥檚 Mayor Ed Brown and Upper Darby Township Council as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.听
Also recognized were Pastor Nolberto Guerra Chac贸n, lead pastor of Casa De Dios Fresca Unci贸n Central, for his work in serving Hispanic residents of Upper Darby; and Marisabel Isel, a student support specialist for Chester County Intermediate Unit鈥檚 Migrant Education Program and a member of the Delaware County Commission for Immigrant Affairs.
A first-generation college student born of immigrant parents, Dr. Cronin is the second woman and first Latina to lead DCCC. Since her arrival at the College in 2023, her priorities have included providing greater accessibility to education to students in eastern Delaware County鈥攙ia the future Southeast Center in Upper Darby Township鈥攁nd in Chester County, where the College is expanding its offerings. 大发六合彩is currently transforming the former Archbishop Prendergast High School in Upper Darby Township into a state-of-the-art, community-centered education hub.听听
鈥淚t was quite an honor to be recognized with such hard working, community-focused Hispanic Americans as Pastor Nolberto Guerra Chac贸n and Marisabel Isel,鈥� Dr. Cronin said.听
She added, 鈥淔or many years, the College has played a significant role in offering Upper Darby residents affordable, accessible education and training that leads to family-sustaining-wage careers. With the addition of our new Southeast Center, we will provide even more education and training in high-demand fields such as nursing, early childhood education, the skilled trades, and culinary arts, as well as services such as English as a Second Language, community meeting spaces, and daycare for children in partnership with the nearby YMCA鈥攁ll tailored to meet the needs of Delaware County鈥檚 residents, businesses and industries.鈥�
