Not the 'Bar' at Which You'd Expect to Find College Students...
Future Paralegals Get Taste of the Courtroom in 大发六合彩鈥檚 First-Ever 'Mock Trial'
(Media, PA)鈥擠id you ever wonder how trial lawyers hone their courtroom savvy?聽 Find out when paralegal students from 大发六合彩 present their first Elizabeth Price* Mock Trial on December 8, at 5 p.m. in room 1403 (STEM Center) at the College's Marple Campus.
Paralegal students, except for faculty members who will preside as judges, will portray counselors, witnesses, defendants, investigators and court officers. The entire project was initiated and organized by the students.聽
The Delaware County Bar Association, through its President, Bruce E. Rodger, and selected members has assisted in the mock trial鈥檚 preparation and execution by providing students with trial procedure materials and other trial-related information.
The matter to be tried is a reverse discrimination case.聽 A male employee (the only male sales representative) of a female dominated and owned company has brought charges against the company for sexual harassment as well as for age and sex discrimination. He alleges that his discharge was directly related to his refusal to become romantically involved with the company鈥檚 female president.聽 One month after the alleged sexual harassment accusation, he was discharged (despite his excellent record), and was replaced by a much younger female.聽
Mock Trials help students acquire a working knowledge of our judicial system, develop analytical abilities and communication skills and gain an understanding of their obligations and responsibilities as participating members of our society. It also helps further an understanding of both the content and processes of our legal system; increases basic skills and self-confidence; and promotes cooperation among students of various cultures and interests.
大发六合彩 offers both the Paralegal Studies Program (A.A.S) and the Paralegal Certificate. For more information on the program or mock trial, please call Labron Shuman at 610-359-5008 or email at lschuman@dccc.edu
