(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)鈥敶蠓⒘喜殊檚 New Music Concert Series kicks off the 2013-14 season with a performance by Amernet String Quartet on Sunday, November 10, at 3 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public and will be held in the College鈥檚 Large Auditorium in the Academic Building on the Marple Campus (901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA). Reservations are required and can be completed at .
Lauded by The New York Times for their 鈥渋ntelligence鈥 and 鈥渋mmensely satisfying鈥 playing, Amernet String Quartet has garnered worldwide praise and recognition as one of today鈥檚 exceptional string quartets.聽 The group features Misha Vitenson and Marcia Littley on violin, Michael Klotz on viola and Jason Calloway on cello. Pianist Matthew Bengtson, who has performed at the College before, will join the quartet for one piece.
Ensemble-in-Residence at Florida International University in Miami since 2004, the group formed in 1991 while its founding members were students at the Juilliard School. They quickly rose to international attention after their first season, winning the gold medal at the Tokyo International Music Competition, before being named first prize winners of the prestigious Banff International String Quartet Competition. The group鈥檚 busy performance schedule has taken the quartet across the Americas and to Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Their current season includes appearances at the Festival Internacional Cervantino; the Kennedy Center for both the Fortas concerts and in collaboration with Cantor Netanel Hershtik for Pro Musica Hebraica; as soloists with the Princeton University Orchestra; and several premieres and return engagements in Canada, Latin America and Israel.

The College鈥檚 New Music Series brings some of the world鈥檚 top musicians closer to home for residents of Delaware and Chester Counties. The series highlights the expansive musical experience available in the 21st century, presenting virtuosic and cutting-edge musicians from around the globe. The recently renovated Large Auditorium serves as the venue and boasts an enlarged stage, luxury seating, theatrical lighting, a surround sound system and all-new d茅cor.
