Spinning Yarns: Photographic Storytellers on View Through March 21
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA 鈥 February 25, 2014)鈥擠on鈥檛 miss Spinning Yarns: Photographic Storytellers, an exhibition on view until March 21 in 大发六合彩鈥檚 Art Gallery (901 South Media Line Road, Media, PA). This traveling exhibition features 64 works from 23 artists and is curated by Anne Leighton Massoni, Program Director of Photography at University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and Libby Rowe, Head of Photography at University of Texas at San Antonio.
鈥淭o 鈥榮pin a yarn鈥 is not just to tell a story but to construct a tale,鈥 Massoni and Rowe write in the curators鈥 essay. 鈥淪torytelling as an art form brings together the teller and audience to push and pull a narrative into being. The tellers initiate the act, providing a fertile soil to conjure visual and rhetorical play. Storytellers and audiences are dependent on one another, co-conspirators in sketching plot, character, place, conversation and event.鈥
The exhibition is free and open to the public. The Art Gallery is located in Room 2305 in the Academic Building and open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, contact Caitlin Flaherty, Assistant to the Dean for Arts Programming, at 610-359-5266.
