College Receives $20,000 Grant from Phoenixville Community Health Foundation
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA, April 3, 2014)鈥Phoenixville Community Health Foundation awarded a $20,000 grant in March 2014 to the 大发六合彩 Educational Foundation, the second in the current fiscal year, announced Kathleen A. Breslin, Executive Director of the College鈥檚 Educational Foundation. The additional $20,000 grant is indicative of a strong interest from Phoenixville residents in public safety and health-related majors. The College offers 17 programs in health-related majors and three programs in public safety.聽聽
鈥淲e are grateful that Dr. Louis J. Beccaria, President and CEO of Phoenixville Community Health Foundation, recognized the need for additional resources to support members of their service community,鈥 said Breslin.聽 For fall 2013 and spring 2014, 26 students were eligible for scholarships.聽
The Foundation鈥檚 scholarship program was launched in 2005 when the College was expanding into Chester County. Currently, 25 percent of the College鈥檚 enrollment resides in Chester County. Because residents of non-sponsoring school districts (all of Chester County) pay twice the tuition of Delaware County鈥檚 sponsoring school districts, the Foundation stepped up to offset tuition for Phoenixville area residents by providing one-half of their tuition.聽聽
To date, the Foundation has assisted 322 students with one-half tuition, for a total of $215,000. In keeping with the mission of the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation to improve the health and quality of life in the community it serves, scholarships are restricted exclusively to health and public safety majors, added Breslin. This definition encompasses prevention and education and requires that the Foundation, through its grant making and community efforts, serve to improve the quality of life of the community.
