Luis Gispert to Jury 215/610 Photography Exhibition
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA Ìý• October 30, 2014)—Internationally recognized visual artist Luis Gispert will jury ´ó·¢ÁùºÏ²Ê’s upcoming art exhibition.Ìý215/610: Juried Photography Exhibition of Regional Emerging Artists opens Wednesday, November 19, 2014 with a reception in the Art Gallery from 3 to 7 p.m. and a lecture from Gispert at 6 p.m. in the Small Auditorium in the Academic Building on the Marple Campus (901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA). The lecture and exhibition are free and open to the public.
´ó·¢ÁùºÏ²Ê’s Art Gallery hosts the juried exhibition each year, inviting emerging artists from Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties to submit their work. Artists are encouraged to bring new life to the age-old method of photography while also building on the contemporary definition of photography.
As this year’s juror, Gispert will award four prizes—Curator’s Choice as well as first, second and third place. Gispert is known for combining both photography and sculpture to create elaborately staged photographs of ordinary scenes juxtaposed with seemingly unrelated objects, giving his images a bizarre ambiguity. His exhibits have included The Whitney Museum of American Art; PS1 Contemporary Art Museum; Museum of Contemporary Art; Museum of Poznan; Shanghai MoCA; Royal Academy of Art; and Palazzo Brocherasio. Collections include Haifa Museum of Art; New Museum of Contemporary Art; ÌýSoloman R. Guggenheim Museum; The Whitney Museum of American Art; Fogg Art Museum; Miami Art Museum;Ìý and the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art. To learn more, visit .
During the artist’s lecture on November 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Gispert will discuss and answer questions regarding the jurying process as well as his own artistic methods.
