New Plumbing Technology Certificate Now Available
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • August 5, 2015)—Interested in becoming a plumber? Now’s your chance. ´ó·¢ÁùºÏ²Ê is launching a new Certificate of Competency program in Plumbing Technology this fall. The 28-credit program will prepare you for a career in the field and can also be applied to the College’s associate degree in Skilled Trades.Â
´ó·¢ÁùºÏ²Ê’s program prepares students for a job in the field while teaching them how to apply the appropriate techniques to install, repair and maintain pipes in accordance with local and international plumbing codes as well as how to install various plumbing systems, including faucets and appliances. Students practice using the tools and equipment required to complete general tasks and discover how to design and install water and waste systems while also gaining an understanding of public versus private water and sewage disposal systems. After completing the certificate program, students can look for work or apply their credits to the College’s Skilled Trades associate degree.Â
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for plumbers is growing faster than average and is expected to grow by 21 percent from now until 2022. Plumbers make a median salary of $49,140 per year.Â
