SpectiCast Series Presents Bizet's 'Carmen'
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA 鈥⒙�September 29, 2015)鈥敶蠓⒘喜殊�檚 SpectiCast series continues with an HD film screening of Georges Bizet鈥檚 Carmen on Sunday, October 18 at 2 p.m. in the Large Auditorium in the Academic Building on the Marple Campus (901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA). 聽聽
A passionate tale of lust, seduction and betrayal, no other opera boasts as popular a following as Bizet鈥檚 Carmen. Set during the dying days of Franco鈥檚 Spain, Calixto Bieito鈥檚 acclaimed production of this must-see opera has been enjoyed by audiences across Europe. Bizet鈥檚 dazzling score evokes all the sounds and the sizzling atmosphere of Spain through some of the opera鈥檚 most famous melodies, from Carmen鈥檚 seductive 鈥淗abanera鈥� to the toreadors鈥� stirring parade.聽
Sensational mezzo-soprano Justina Gringyte leads the cast, alongside internationally acclaimed tenor Eric Cutler as Jos茅, English National Opera Harewood Artist Eleanor Dennis as Mica毛la and Leigh Melrose as the toreador Escamillo. Returning to the Coliseum to conduct this stunning production is Sir Richard Armstrong.聽
Now in its sixth year, the College鈥檚 SpectiCast series brings the classical realm of music, dance and opera closer to home for residents of Delaware and Chester Counties. Each performance is produced using a state-of-the-art audiovisual system and is choreographed to capture the fullness of the orchestral performance and the intimacy of the on-stage experience. Performances are filmed live in some of the greatest venues around the world and then broadcast at the College.聽
