(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)—ϲ’s new STEM Speaker Series continues with a lecture by Ed Rahme AIA, LEED-AP titled “Achieving Excellence in the World of Architecture: An Architect's Perspective.” The lecture will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, from 11:10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 5 to 5:50 p.m. in the STEM Center, Room 1403 (901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA). Both lectures are free and open to the public.
In his lecture, Rahme will use a single-family custom home and university building design project as case studies to highlight what’s involved in creating quality architecture. He will also discuss interpreting clients’ needs and how to work together throughout the process.
Rahme is an award-winning architect and the founder of Think Architecture. He is the recipient of the prestigious William Van Alen Traveling Fellowship for design as well as 32 local and national awards for architectural design. His work has appeared in numerous publications and media, including HGTV's What you get for the Money and NPR's Studio 360. Since 2006 he’s served as an adjunct instructor at the College. Rahme holds a master’s degree in Architectural Design from the Washington/Alexandria Architectural Consortium and is licensed in four states and the District of Columbia.
The STEM Speaker Series features lectures on a range of topics covering the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Lectures are offered in the fall and spring semesters and are open to students, faculty and community members. This semester’s last lecture is “Mathematical Modeling and Computation for the Collective Motion of Animal Groups” presented by Dr. Allison Kolpas on April 23.
