Tennis Anyone? Renovated Tennis Courts Enhance Campus
(Media, PA, May 3, 2011) Tennis anyone? Members of the tennis team at 大发六合彩 participated in a ceremony that was held on April 20, 2011 to recognize the generosity of the Ethel Sergeant Clark Smith Memorial Fund in renovating the College鈥檚 six tennis courts.
听鈥淭hanks to the Memorial Fund, we were able to enhance an athletic program that provides competition and recreation for the College community and beyond,鈥� stated College President Dr. Jerry Parker. 鈥淭hese improvements offer more opportunities for community members, local tournaments, and intercollegiate competition,鈥� added Parker.
Ethel Sergeant Clark Smith was a tennis devotee, who loved the game and its sportsmanship, and wanted to preserve the sport in its finest sense. She was a prominent member of Philadelphia society and her love of tennis led to her establishing the United States Lawn Tennis Association Girls鈥� Sportsmanship Trophy and the Middle States Lawn Tennis Association Tournament. The Ethel Sergeant Clark Smith Memorial Fund, formed in 1977 from her estate (managed by Wachovia Bank, N.A.), benefits organizations located in Southeastern Pennsylvania, with primary emphasis on serving community needs in Delaware County.听
