Verdi’s “Aida” - Broadcast Live in HD
(Media, PA) Opera lovers in the Delaware Valley can now enjoy “live” concerts at ϲ. The College will simulcast a variety of performances broadcast live in HD. All performances will be in the large auditorium - Marple Campus - 901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA.
These presentations bring the classical realm of music, dance and opera closer to home for residents of Delaware and Chester counties. The simulcast series began in January 2011 and featured the Philadelphia Orchestra performing six concerts. The response was overwhelming, which led the Performing Arts Department to engage in a number of other classical presentations that begin with the North American Premier of Giuseppe Verdi’s, Aida (Italian with English and Italian subtitles) on Sunday, September 18 at 2 PM.
Following is the schedule through December 2011:
- Sunday, September 18 at 2 PM - Ernst Marzendorfer conducts Giusseppe Verdi’s Aida, Corps de Ballet and Orchestra of the National Theater Brno
- Sunday, October 9 at 2 PM - Gustavo Dudamel Conducts Los Ritmos De La Noche (from Waldbühne Berlin) - North American Premiere: The Berliner Philharmoniker and Ana Marie Martínez, soprano
- Sunday, October 23 at 2 PM - Daniel Barenboim conducts The Berliner Philharmoniker - Europa Konzert (from Oxford); Alisa Weilerstein, cello
- Sunday, November 6 at 2 PM - Lorin Maazel conducts The New York Philharmonic Live in Pyongyang (English and Korean with English, French, Spanish and Japanese subtitles)
