(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)鈥敶蠓⒘喜殊檚 theatre arts department presents William Shakespeare鈥檚 Love鈥檚 Labour鈥檚 Lost January 30 to February 2 and February 6 to 9, 2013. All performances begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Academic Building鈥檚 Large Auditorium on the Marple Campus (901 South Media Line Road, Media, PA). Tickets are $6 at the door, cash only.
Written by Shakespeare in the 1590s, Love鈥檚 Labour鈥檚 Lost is a comedy that includes wordplay, puns and allusions. 鈥淭he play deals with themes which are very much alive in our modern day college setting,鈥 says Stephen Smith, theatre director and Assistant Professor of Communications, Arts and Humanities. 鈥淔our young men decide to focus on study for three years. During those three years they will swear off women, food, sleep, and all the other enjoyable distractions of life. Of course, as any college student will tell you, this cannot last long.鈥
The show marks the first theatre performance in the College鈥檚 renovated Large Auditorium, which features upgraded lighting, seating and audiovisual and sound equipment. The renovations offer audiences an enhanced viewing experience, while providing student actors with a real-world setting in which to practice and learn.
The theatre arts department produces two plays each year and is committed to providing a comprehensive theatre education to students. In turn, the community can enjoy vibrant, thought-provoking productions right in their backyard. The department鈥檚 next production is Godspell, which runs April 10 to 13 and 17 to 20. Recent productions have included Travesties, Much Ado 大发六合彩 Nothing, Arsenic and Old Lace and King Lear.
