(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)—´ó·¢ÁùºÏ²Ê’s SpectiCast series continues with an HD broadcast of Merrily We Roll Along on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Large Auditorium in the Academic Building on the Marple Campus (901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA).Â
´ó·¢ÁùºÏ²Ê is thrilled to present an HD broadcast of the acclaimed revival of Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along from London's West End. Triple Olivier Award-winner Maria Friedman makes her directorial debut with this vibrant, full-scale production featuring an exceptional cast led by Mark Umbers, Jenna Russell and Damian Humbley.Â
Set over three decades in the entertainment business, Merrily We Roll Along charts the relationship between three close friends Franklin, Mary and Charley. Traveling backwards in time, this powerful and moving story features some of Sondheim's most beautiful songs including "Good Thing Going," "Not a Day Goes By" and "Old Friends."Â
Sondheim himself says, "This production of Merrily We Roll Along is not only the best I've seen, but one of those rare instances where casting, direction and show come together in perfect combination, resulting in the classic ideal of the sum being greater than the parts."Â
Now in its fourth year, the College’s SpectiCast series brings the classical realm of music, dance and opera closer to home for residents of Delaware and Chester Counties. Each performance is produced using a state-of-the-art audiovisual system and is choreographed to capture the fullness of the orchestral performance and the intimacy of the on-stage experience. Performances are filmed live in some of the greatest venues around the world and then broadcast at the College. The next performance is of George Balanchine's Jewels on March 30, 2014.Â
Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $7.50 for students and children. Tickets are available for purchase online () and at the door 45 minutes prior to each show (cash only). For more information, please call 610-359-5266 or visit .
