Student Helps Fellow Veterans Feel at Home at the College
Student-veteran Robert Saugling is helping fellow veterans feel at home at 大发六合彩. He serves as Vice President of the Student Veterans of 大发六合彩club and, in January 2018, he鈥檒l travel to San Antonio to participate in the Student Veterans of America Conference.
鈥淎t the conference, I鈥檒l get to learn things that will help students here,鈥 he says. 鈥淚t feels great helping fellow veterans and helping College staff understand our perspective.鈥
A Business major, Saugling decided to return to school after serving in the Air Force followed by a career in retail. He served from 1986 to 1996 and earned the rank of sergeant. He was stationed around the country and world, including in Korea, Saudi Arabia, New York and Florida.
In addition to participating in the Student Veterans club, Saugling works in the College鈥檚 Nazz Mariani Veterans Center. 鈥淭he College is great about offering services to veterans, including personal attention and help with financial aid. It鈥檚 easy to get questions answered here, and everyone I鈥檝e come in contact with is phenomenal and always willing to help.鈥
Saugling also says he is happy that the College鈥檚 new president, Dr. L. Joy Gates Black, is an Air Force veteran herself. Dr. Black is focused on helping veterans and has formed a Veterans Task Force, which Saugling is a member of. 鈥淚t鈥檚 nice to know someone who鈥檚 served and understands what it鈥檚 like to be a vet,鈥 he says.
After graduating in May, Saugling plans to move west to complete a bachelor鈥檚 degree in business at Arizona State University.
